Why Information Technology Is in Demand Nowadays?
Over the past decade, Information Technology has become more and more important in the world. The fact that IT is becoming so important comes simply from the fact that the amount of data being created daily is growing exponentially. So, because of this, we need more people to help us manage, analyze and make sense of it all.
So, this section will delve into what some of these reasons are. Also, we will provide some insight into why IT is so in demand right now.
A Brief History of IT
Way back when computers were first introduced, they were only used by a few people and for a few specific purposes. Such as for military applications, calculations, etc. They were extremely expensive and only the government had access to them. As computers became more popular, they became cheaper and thus we saw a rise in their popularity.
We also saw the rise of personal computers which were much easier to use than large mainframes. So, these made it easier for people to start working with them. It was around this time that we first started seeing IT start to be used in various industries across the globe.
We started seeing how IT could be used to automate various processes. As well as how it could create certain efficiencies which would improve productivity. We also started seeing how IT could help make better decisions. Thus, it would allow companies to become more profitable and successful. This is why big companies today have computer systems that can support many different departments such as sales, marketing, accounting, etc.
Technology has become much more pervasive today than it was before. So, because of this, we need many more people who can work with technology to help us along our way.
The Growth of Data
The fact that information technology is becoming more important comes simply from the fact that data is growing at an exponential rate daily. The reason behind this is that there is an increasing number of devices that are connected to the internet or other technology networks such as smartphones or tablets. Many sensors are connected wirelessly or via USB which creates even more data for us to process and manage daily.
Some good examples of this growth can be seen in things like Facebook where users upload millions of photos daily. As well as Google where billions upon billions of searches are done every day in regards to web searching. There are also many other examples as well as other service providers that have millions of users who use their services daily.
Because of this increase in data, we need to be able to process, store and manage all of this data. This is where IT plays an important role in helping us manage all of this information which helps us make the best decisions possible.
